Side by side, born and raised with her twin in Christchurch, New Zealand, Sophie quickly learned the skill of persistence. She had a burning passion for photography but soaring school fees meant an SLR camera was not an option.  However, neither was giving up. Making an early exit at 16, Sophie ironically found herself working at the local camera store.

For the next seven years, five days a week, Sophie McMillan sold, bought, broke and borrowed cameras until the day she thanked her employer, and started her own photography business.

At just 22, Sophie McMillan landed her first paid wedding and soon after was offered a position covering motor racing throughout NZ. For three years Sophie juggled the two jobs and made a living purely with her Canon in tow.

In 2010, with her camera on her back, Sophie left NZ and traveled extensively through Europe, the Caribbean, and Malaysia funding her travel by being a professional wedding photographer. At 28 she made the decision to return home and continue to follow her number one passion…Wedding Photography!

Now at 34 Sophie’s personality is her most powerful tool she owns, creating friendships with her clients that is undeniably the reason for her success in capturing the most important day of your life.
